Sunflower fest takes center stage anew, cops 2nd place, best in costume

Magayon Street Dance Competition’17
Flaunting eye-candy costumes and props, frenetic stomps and upbeat sways, Ligao City contingents showcasing Sunflower Festival,
participated once again in Daragang Magayon Festival street dance competition and exhibition at Penaranda Park and clinched 2nd
place and Best in Costume award, May 31.
Sunflower festival received a trophy and a total cash prize of P 230,000 while Tabak Festival of Tabaco City was hailed champion
with P 300,000, and Quipia Festival of Jovellar garnered the 3rd place taking home P 100,000.
Thousands of city residents, local and foreign tourists lined up the street to watch in amazement the said competition with 6
contingents, namely: Sto. Domingo, Legazpi City, Jovellar, Ligao City, Rapu-Rapu and Tabaco, braving the sizzling heat and dancing
their way through the three-kilometer stretch of Rizal Street from Vel-Amor Subdivision to the Penaranda Park.
Sto. Domingo copped the best in moving choreography award and likewise received P 30, 000.
The success of Sunflower festival was made possible through its trainer, Joshua Reaso, the Local Government Unit ( LGU)- Ligao
City, Schools Division Office ( SDO) and the assigned working committees.
As of the press time, the team is set to participate in the Ibalong Showdown on August 26. (NEWS-Bryan)
